WHAT IS INHEM?

The National Institute of Hygiene, Epidemiology and Microbiology (INHEM) in Havana City, with 110 years of existence, is a leading institute of the Cuban National Health System, accredited by the Ministry of Public and the Cuban Academy of Sciences for the national and international activity of training, research and assistance in the fields of Chronic Diseases, Health Services and Programs Research, and Environmental Health in Cuba.

The INHEM is for the last three decades a WHO Collaborators Center in the fields of Healthy Housing and Dengue and work join to IMTA for more than a decade in projects related to Population Health and their Determinants, Chronic Diseases Risk Factors Prevention and Control, Health Services and Programs Research, Community Participation and Quality Education. The INHEM is a National Coordinator Center in the medical education and training in the fields of Hygiene and Epidemiology and Biostats.

INHEM MISSION:

 

  1.          to contribute to protect the population against chronic diseases and injuries, environmental and school  risk factors trough health promotion, disease prevention and control programs
  2.            to study and propose healthy public policies in the field of the determinants of  health & wellbeing, chronic disease,  injuries and health system performing.
  3.      to develop scientific exchange with national and international institutions and collaboration for development of the iii world countries
