Workshop on thesis supervision, 12-13 Jan 2015, Morocco

06 Mar 2015

A 2-day workshop on thesis supervision was held in ENSP, Rabat, Morocco. This is a LINQED exchange project initiated by ENSP and jointly organized by several LINQED member institutions (ENSP, Morocco; UMU, Uganda and ITM, Belgium). The workshop offered participants practical exercises to reflect on the supervision process. The objective was to encourage the use of good practice for stimulating students' critical thinking via feedback and introduce a tool for initiating dialogue between supervisors and students to clarify expectations.

Twenty-five participants from four LINQED institutions actively participated in the workshop. They represented the following institutions: Faculty of Medicine, Gadjah Mada University, Indonesia; Faculty of Health Sciences, Uganda Martyrs University, Uganda; School of Public Health, University of Lubumbashi, DR Congo and staff from ENSP, Rabat and Casablanca. Participants found the workshop stimulating and thought-provoking.

Feedback from participants:

First of all I want to thank you for this very interesting and pertinent workshop. We have a small and young school that is facing many challenges [in thesis supervision]. As an academic organization we must provide training based on best practices and references. This kind of workshop is an opportunity to develop the capacity of teachers.

I liked the integration of participants from other countries. It allows the exchange of experiences. The learning method was adapted [to participants' needs]. I hope we will have the opportunity to increase meetings and discuss new topic. - Dr Imane Raji, ENSP, Morocco
