In the last week of June and the beginning of July, two staff members from Gadjah Mada University (Indonesia) visited ITM to observe how the Master in Public Health thesis rehearsals and defense are organized. Their visit was part of the thesis supervision exchange project promoted by LINQED.

Morita

"Hello I am Morita, a lecturer from the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. I  am currently pursuing a PhD in the field of tuberculosis at the University Medical Center,Groningen, the Netherlands. I am very grateful to have the opportunity to visit ITM in the framework of the LINQED staff exchange thesis supervision program for the Master of Public Health (MPH). I will be here for 1 week and follow the thesis rehearsals and the final oral exam. It has always been pleasant to visit Belgium, a founding member of the European Union.

ITM has an international atmosphere, from the class (i.e. students and staff) to the kitchen (I even found fried rice, one of the Indonesian staple foods!). Specifically, the MPH program creates an opportunity for students to meet and share experiences with people coming from different contexts, thus it makes the class rich and diverse. I learnt a great deal from this program. I admire the commitment of the academic/program coordinators and the coaches to guide the students, and the enthusiasm of the students for their thesis rehearsal and exams. It is always challenging to be a good coach or a good student. ITM gives an example on how to achieve it.I am sure that the experience I gained from this program will be beneficial for my institution in Indonesia".
